Energetic, sociable, loyal and water-loving, the Labrador Retriever
is one of the world's best loved dogs.
The breed originated in the St. John's region of Newfoundland,
Canada, where they worked to retrieve the cork floats of fishing
nets so fishermen could haul in their catch.
The short, dense coat of the Labrador Retriever repels water and
is easy to care for. Minor but regular grooming is recommended
to remove dead hairs from your labrador before they end up "decorating" your
furniture. Temperaments are typically outgoing, loyal and dependable
- they make great family dogs!
Labs can be found in three coat colors - yellow, black and chocolate
(brown).
